Success Criterion 2.3.1 - Level A

Three Flashes or Below Threshold

Never show more than three flashes per second anywhere in an app. This can cause an epileptic seizure. Alerts don't work well because they are often overlooked. This is especially the case with children who cannot read yet.

Impact

More than three flashes per second can trigger an epileptic seizure.

Check

Are more than three flashes per second shown anywhere?

This can be tested without assistive technologies.

Solution

Prevent frequent flashes

On Android, flashing content often uses ExecutorsHandler, or Timer. Check if these objects are used to show more than three flashes per second.

If your app contains any videos, also check if these contain more than three flashes per second.
